THE POSITION IS FUNDED BY A TWO-YEAR NATIONAL INSTITUTE ON AGING GRANT TO EXAMINE THE EFFECT OF AGING AND ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE PATHOLOGY ON NEUROTRANSMITTERS IN THE NONHUMAN PRIMATE BRAIN. Qualifications: THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PERFORMING HISTOLOGY, IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY, ADVANCED UNBIASED STEREOLOGY, AND QUANTITATIVE PCR. IN ADDITION, THE CANDIDATE WILL ASSIST IN DAY-TO-DAY LABORATORY MANAGEMENT, STUDENT TRAINING, ORDERING SUPPLIES, DATA ANALYSES, SCIENTIFIC PRESENTATIONS, PUBLICATIONS, AND OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED BY THE PI. Additional Basic Function – if applicable: Examples of Duties: Additional Examples of Duties – if applicable: Minimum Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • BACHELOR OR MASTER’S DEGREE IN BIOLOGICAL ANTHROPOLOGY, NEUROSCIENCE, BIOLOGY, BIOTECHNOLOGY, BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES, OR A RELATED DEGREE • PRIOR EXPERIENCE OF 1-2 YEARS IN A LABORATORY SETTING • HIGHLY MOTIVATED, DEPENDABLE, AND CONSISTENTLY ON TIME • STRONG ORGANIZATIONAL AND TIME-MANAGEMENT SKILLS • ABILITY TO MULTI-TASK AND MEET DEADLINES • EFFECTIVE PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS • DEMONSTRATE PROFESSIONAL INTERPERSONAL, VERBAL, AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATION SKILLS • ABILITY TO WORK INDEPENDENTLY WITH LIMITED SUPERVISION AND COLLABORATIVELY WITHIN A TEAM Preferred Qualifications – if applicable: Assessments: Asterisk (*) indicates knowledge, skills, abilities which require assessments Working Conditions / Physical Requirements: Working Schedule: This is grant funded two year term assignment.
