Basic Function:

The College of Aeronautics and Engineering is seeking to fill one non-tenure track position for its Bachelor of Science in Aviation Maintenance Management degree.

Additional Basic Function – if applicable:

 

This degree is designed for those already holding an FAA-issued airframe and powerplant certificate. Although the courses are 100% online, the faculty member must be present and reside in and around the Kent campus, which houses this program, as additional teaching duties may be assigned involving face-to-face courses.  

Examples of Duties:

 

  • Provide instruction in Aviation Maintenance in accordance with established course outlines.
  • Provide leadership in the development and revision of the Aviation Maintenance curriculum responsive to the students served.
  • Participate in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation; participate in and develop programs to measure student performance.
  • Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
  • Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
  • Fulfill the professional responsibilities of a full-time faculty member including, but not limited to the following: teach all scheduled classes unless excused under provisions of policy; follow the college course outlines; keep accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, and progress; submit student grades according to established deadlines; post and maintain scheduled office hours; participate in departmental meetings and college and/or district-wide activities and committees as assigned.
  • Ability to be a liaison, contact, and operations lead of grant projects associated or affiliated with the Aviation Maintenance department.
  • Ability to contribute to campus and district-wide professional responsibilities and activities.
  • Ability to complement existing staff, student, and community demographics in terms of professional and personal skills.
  • The assignment may include day, evening, weekend, and online sections.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Bachelors in Aviation Maintenance, Aeronautics, or a closely related field, minimum of two-years relevant instructional experience and a current Airframe and Powerplant Certificate as issued by the FAA. Master’s degree in aviation, aeronautics, business or other related field.

Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:

Inspection Authority, at least 5+ years as an aviation mechanic. Experience developing and/or teaching courses in an online environment.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

 Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
