Assist students with career planning regardless of academic standing. Deliver presentations on related topics to university community members. Reports to designated supervisor. Additional Basic Function – if applicable: UTILIZE ADVANCED KNOWLEDGE AND TECHNIQUES TO DELIVER COMPREHENSIVE CAREER MANAGEMENT AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMING TAILORED TO GRADUATE STUDENTS WITHIN THE AMBASSADOR CRAWFORD COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP. LEAD AND EXPAND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMING FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS. REPORTS TO DIRECTOR, CAREER SERVICES OFFICE, AMBASSADOR CRAWFORD COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP. Examples of Duties: Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: Provide individual career advising to university students, alumni, and other constituencies through services requiring advanced career planning knowledge and competencies.Support the career planning needs of university students ineligible to proceed in their desired majors and those on academic probation.Prepare and deliver presentations on career exploration and selection, graduate school preparation, interview and job search techniques, networking, professionalism, and resume and cover letter writing.Design and deliver customized presentations to Kent State students, university student organizations, high school students and their parents, and other groups.Represent unit to coordinate/administer involvement in new and existing university initiatives designed to support student retention and connect students with career planning services.Serve on university committees and collaborate with campus colleagues to cultivate new and existing relationships, provide training, and develop programs/resources to support the career planning needs of students; share with office recommendations and next steps.Hire, train, direct, and supervise unclassified professional staff, graduate assistants and/or paraprofessional Student Career Peer staff members.Stay abreast of current career trends through workshops, seminars, and online resources; make recommendations for program and service offerings and improvements.Support campus programming and career center recruiting events.Serve as liaison to one or more academic colleges.Perform related duties as assigned. Additional Examples of Duties – if applicable: Support the professional development/placement of graduate students. Assist in development and maintenance of the MBA Program Advisory Board, including recruiting board members in collaboration with ACCBE leadership. Create and deliver a program of developmental experiences and events for ACCBE graduate students. Provide one-on-one and group career coaching and career advising to graduate students. Work collaboratively with ACCBE graduate program coordinators and department chairs to create opportunities that enhance graduate student professional development and job placement. Support the Director in the deployment of evaluations to reflect relevant results in student professional development and job placement; maintain high levels of student satisfaction and placement to elevate and sustain program rankings. Ensure graduate students have access to a variety of employment resources Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in higher education, counseling, business, communications, or closely related field. Two years of experience in providing career planning assistance to college students in a university or other career center including supervisory experience. License/Certification: Knowledge Of: Advanced career and academic assessment and career development principlesCurrent trends/challenges related to career development, including data on careers, occupations, employment opportunities, and entry-level occupational requirementsAdvanced knowledge of university academic programs and major/degree optionsAdvanced knowledge of higher education student service programs, academic units, and large university organizational structureKent State referral network and resourcesStudent development theory and leadership styles and theories Skill In: Developing and facilitating of creative, engaging presentations *Written, verbal, and interpersonal communication *Planning and implementing innovative marketing strategies to connect with students *Interpreting career assessments utilized by the center *Utilizing job search tools and techniques, including social media and the center’s web-based recruiting database *Organizing and evaluating projects and prioritizing work with a high degree of initiative and independenceUtilizing MS Office Suite and other relevant software, particularly PowerPoint and online presentation applications *Incorporating available technology to provide career planning servicesOrganization and time management to ensure adherence to deadlines *Detail orientation * Ability To: Provide leadership and directionWork independently in a self-directed manner and effectively collaborate as part of a teamMulti-task while managing multiple projects and assignments *Solve problems quickly and efficientlyCollaborate with a diverse group of constituents to meet mission of the centerEstablish rapport with and relate to individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures *Advanced ability to apply knowledge of confidentiality and student advocacy strategiesEnsure a high level of customer satisfactionSuccessfully complete professional development and training activitiesNavigate university protocols Hold membership and leadership roles in professional organizations such as National Career Development Association, National Association of Colleges and Employers, ACPA, etc. *Work occasional evening and weekend hours Preferred Qualifications – if applicable: PROGRESSIVELY RESPONSIBLE EXPERIENCE IN A CAREER CENTER, INCLUDING 3 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WITH GRADUATE CAREER MANAGEMENT AND INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS. Working Conditions / Physical Requirements: Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
