Opportunity for Tenure Track 9-mo faculty, Assistant/Associate Professor position in Teaching, Learning and Curriculum Studies.

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

The successful candidate will work with faculty in the Kent State mathematics education group (http://www.kent.edu/mathed) as well as the program areas of Early Childhood Education (grades preK – 5) and Curriculum & Instruction. Additionally, the successful candidate will:

  • Have an active research agenda and demonstrated potential for research productivity (i.e., peer-reviewed publications, national conference presentations);
  • Seek extramural funding;
  • Teach undergraduate methods courses focusing on elementary mathematics education and graduate level courses in Mathematics Education and/or Curriculum & Instruction;
  • Advise Masters and Doctoral students in the mathematics education program;
  • Participate in program, school, college, and university committees;
  • Develop/maintain partnerships with local school districts.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Doctoral degree in mathematics education or a closely related field; three years teaching experience (preferably at the elementary level); demonstrated potential for research productivity in the form of peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations; demonstrated potential for success in college teaching and contributing to academic program development at the undergraduate and graduate levels; demonstrated ability to work in partnerships with schools; and excellent oral and written communication skills.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
