Salary:

 $20.22 - $21.11 (6 month rate)

Basic Function:

Under general supervision, performs skilled work in installation, replacement, and maintenance of windows, doors, standards and electronic locks, and ADA operators. Reports to Glazier Supervisor or other designated supervisor.

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

Measures and cuts glass, mirrors, trim material, acrylic plastics, and screens.

Installs and replaces glass and related materials in doors, window frames, show cases, table tops, sky lights, and display boxes; caulks and glazes glass as required; removes, cuts, and installs mirrors; repairs and replaces acrylic shields.

Installs, repairs, and programs powered ADA operators.

Performs repair/maintenance on sectional overhead doors.

Installs, repairs, and maintains all types of door hardware.

Gathers necessary materials required to complete a job; monitors inventory levels and reports supply needs to supervisor.

Drives vehicle to pick up and deliver personnel and materials; operates various types of lifts.

Installs doors, frames, sidelights and curtain wall.

May train and direct student employees or employees in a lower pay grade in proper procedures; may participate in training new employees.

Assists other non-skilled or skilled tradespersons as required.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of four years skilled experience in the installation and replacement of window glass and related materials, steel and aluminum doors installation and repair (or equivalent training or experience which provides comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities).

License/Certification:

Valid Ohio driver's license with safe driving record.

Knowledge Of:

Appropriate safety practices *
Glazing *
ADA requirements in relation to doors, operators and locks *
Basic locksmithing
Low voltage wiring

Skill In:

Installation and replacement of window glass and related materials *
Use of hand and power tools *
Customer service
Troubleshooting complex assignments

Ability To:

Interpret and apply blueprints *
Lift 100 pounds *
Read (e.g., work orders), write (e.g., work logs), and accurately follow oral, written, and graphic instructions*
Perform basic mathematics (e.g., add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, and to calculate percentages) *
Work in high places *
Communicate with University personnel and public (e.g., to explain work being performed in area, to gather information at job site) *
Operate computerized equipment
Use appropriate PPE. i.e. Safety Toe Shoes, Respirator
Work varied hours and shifts to include evenings, weekends, and holidays *

Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:

Journeyman Glazier certification.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

Exposed to variable temperatures and weather conditions, heights, dirt, dust, odors, chemicals, and potentially dangerous equipment (e.g., sharp cutting instruments and materials); requires considerable physical exertion to include frequent lifting of up to 75 pounds, occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds (e.g., glass, windows), climbing ladders and scaffolding, and extended periods of standing and assuming awkward positions. May work varied hours and shifts to include evenings, weekends, and holidays. May be called to work in emergency situations. Requires on and off-campus travel.

Working Schedule:

 Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.; however, hours may vary to meet departmental needs.
