Salary:

 $12.00

Basic Function:

Serves food and beverages to guests at functions and events. Reports to Manager, Conference Center or designated supervisor.

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

Takes food and/or beverage orders from guests; serves food and beverages according to rules of proper service.

Clears dishes and clears and re-sets tables for service according to established professional standards.

Provides upkeep/maintenance of dining room and support areas to ensure preparation for day's activities.

Assists with basic kitchen duties as needed.

Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required Experience: A minimum of three months of server experience in a restaurant. May require proof of age (i.e., 21) to serve alcoholic beverages.

License/Certification:

Must acquire the Ohio Department of Health's Level Two certification in Food Protection during the employee's probationary period.

Knowledge Of:

 

Skill In:

Interpersonal communication to effectively interact with University personnel and public in person and over the telephone (e.g., to exchange information regarding events, respond to guest requests/orders, etc.)

Ability To:

Read, write, and accurately follow oral and written instructions
Lift 30 pounds
Apply customer service standards
Operate a variety of food and beverage equipment
Apply sanitation standards and safety practices

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

Restaurant-like environment; expected to work with food and food scraps in the course of performing duties; standing for extended periods of time; frequent lifting of up to 30 pounds (e.g., carrying trays of food and beverages) may work varied hours and shifts to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Working Schedule:

 This is an intermittent opening. As an intermittent employee you can work up to 28 hours per week and no more than 1,000 hours in a fiscal year. Our fiscal year runs July 1 through June 30. These six (6) openings have a possibility of being renewed each year.
