Job Title:

Assistant Vice President, Institutional Advancement

Physical Location:

Salary:

 $110,000 - $125,000

Basic Function:

Manage and oversee fundraising activities for university strategic priorities in the Division of Institutional Advancement (IA) and in conjunction with other units/divisions on campus. Lead college, campus and unit based fundraising staff in the cultivation and solicitation of gifts in excess of $25,000. Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects ($100,000+) to meet predetermined university priorities.  Serve as an advisor to the Senior Associate Vice President on a variety of strategic fundraising initiatives and planning initiatives and as a member of the fundraising management team. Reports to the Senior Associate Vice President, Institutional Advancement.

Examples of Duties:

Develop and implement fundraising strategies and initiatives for specific university fundraising priorities.

Support and advance the Division of Institutional Advancement as a strategic resource in fundraising planning and goal setting within the university community.

Communicate the status of major gift fundraising activity to the Senior Associate Vice President of Institutional Advancement, and relevant college, campus and department leadership; disseminate reports.

Provide leadership in development and tracking of annual fundraising goals.

Collaborate with divisional leadership in developing coordinated engagement, solicitation and stewardship strategies toward major gift donors, strategic partners and other financial supporters.

Conduct research and assist with the development of customized funding proposals for donors with the capacity of making philanthropic commitments in excess of $1M.

Provide direct supervision and leadership of a fundraising team in the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of donors for outright and planned gifts.

Design, develop and implement staff professional development activities to increase the number, frequency and size of philanthropic donations and meet projected donor target levels.

Identify, cultivate and solicit prospects for major and special gifts.

Plan, monitor, and maintain unit budget and approve operating expenses.

Serve on various college, campus, division, and university committees.

Perform public relation activities at various functions.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, business management, or related field; ten years successful fundraising experience in a comprehensive development environment.

License/Certification:

 

Knowledge Of:

Higher education, processes to include managing and reporting fundraising activities *

Fundraising and gift planning *

Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:

Master’s degree in higher education administration, non-profit management, accounting, business administration or related field; certification in professional fundraising.
