To assist and provide marketing support to a department or program. Reports to designated supervisor.
Additional Basic Function – if applicable:
Assists and provides marketing support to the School of Music through the implementation of marketing and public relations activities; writes and produces press releases, newsletters, flyers, web site, etc.; prepares mailing lists; coordinates distribution of promotional materials to targeted audiences; coordinates and markets special events and special projects.
Examples of Duties:
Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Assist in the implementation of marketing and public relations activities.Write and produce press releases, newsletters, flyers, web site, etc.; prepare mailing lists; coordinate distribution of promotional materials to targeted audiences.Assist in marketing of special events.Coordinate special projects.May promote sales and call on existing or potential customers.May supervise students and/or provide functional guidance of support staff or other employees who work on a project or assignment on a temporary or intermittent basis.Perform related duties as assigned.
Additional Examples of Duties – if applicable:
Oversee the publicity, advertising and promotion of the School of Music and its events. Coordinate the photography and other programming as needed.
Prepares an events calendar for media distribution. Originate stories and develop angles for media pitches and campus promotion. Serve as media contact for all stories. Serve as point person for alumni news; faculty successes and recognition; current student awards and news.
Oversee and monitor the school’s main social media channels.
Assist university public relations office with media queries for School of Music. Serve as main media contact and organize on-camera media interviews; coordinate special interest phone interviews with director and/or faculty members;
Serve as school’s webmaster and make all updates and changes in Drupal as needed.
May supervise students and/or provide functional guidance of support staff or other employees who work on a project or assignment on a temporary or intermittent basis.
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Public Relations, or relevant field; three months to one year experience in marketing, public relations, or relevant area.
