20.86 to 27.13 / hour based on experience & training

Basic Function:

The Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) is a specialized research professional working with and under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI) of clinical trials. The CRC supports, facilitates and coordinates the daily clinical trial activities and plays a critical role in the conduct of the study. The CRC works with the PI, CPM Director of Research, Kent State University and sponsor to support and provide guidance on the administration of the compliance, financial, personnel and other related aspects of the clinical study. Reports to the Director of Research, CPM

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

Coordinate, with the Principal Investigator (PI) and the Director of Research, to ensure that clinical research and related activities are performed in accordance with federal regulations, university and sponsoring agency policies and procedures, and the principles of Good Clinical Practice.

Participate, as needed, in the regulatory processes as they relate to the evaluation, initiation, maintenance and closure of studies; internal and external audits of clinical trials, and other research activity.

Attend study-related training and site initiation visits.

Assist in activities related to subject recruitment.

Collect data as required by the protocol and assure timely completion of Case Report Forms (CRFs).

Inventory, handle, and maintain accountability for all study supplies and investigational products.

Facilitate study monitoring visits and promptly resolving all study-related queries.

Maintain effective and ongoing communication with sponsor, research participants and PI during the course of the study.

Cooperate with Kent State University Division of Research & Sponsored Programs, Research Compliance Office and Grants Accounting on compliance and monitor efforts related to sponsored program administration and report instances of noncompliance to the appropriate compliance office.

Notify appropriate institutional officials of external audits by FDA and sponsors.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a science or health-related field plus three (3) years of experience in clinical research. 



Knowledge Of:

Strong computer skills including the Microsoft Office Suite of Products (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) *

Federal regulations regarding the protection of human subjects*

Skill In:

Written and interpersonal communication

Organizing a variety of data and coordinating multiple concurrent projects

Attending to detail

Ability To:

Work independently on an ongoing basis

Certification as a Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC)

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
