Financial Aid Counselor

Physical Location:

 Kent, OH

Salary:

 $23,700 - $41,102

Basic Function:

Assists in the administration of financial aid programs. Reports to Assistant Director, Student Financial Aid. Determine award packages; recalculate and adjust aid; assist in managing federal, state, and/or institutional grant and loan programs.

 NOTE: 3 POSITIONS AVAILABLE.

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

Oversee various financial aid programs (e.g. direct loans, scholarship coordination, grant processing, University scholarships, special circumstances, federal work study, etc.).

Determine award packages; award aid; recalculate and adjust aid; delete federal, state, and/or Institutional aid.

Evaluate and determine appropriate action for invalid or incomplete student financial aid applications.

Conduct presentations to clarify federal, state, and University regulations regarding the financial aid process.

May supervise students and/or provide functional guidance of support staff or other employees who work on a project or assignment on a temporary or intermittent basis.

Perform related duties as assigned.

 

Additional Examples of Duties – if applicable:

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; Master's degree preferred; three months to one year experience in student financial aid, customer service, or a relevant field.

 

 

Knowledge Of:

Personal computer applications

Skill In:

Written and interpersonal communication

  EXCELLENT ORGANIZATIONAL AND TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.

Working Schedule:

 Non-traditional hours as needed.
