Basic Function:

 The College of Aeronautics & Engineering (CAE) at Kent State University invites applications for full-time, Tenure-Track and Non-Tenure Track faculty positions in Aerospace Engineering.

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

The selected candidates are expected to mature the colleges research and teaching competencies in Aerospace Engineering and Aeronautical Engineering Technology.  Kent State University is one of the only institutions of higher learning to offer both aerospace engineering and aeronautical engineering technology in the same college unit, with students from both majors taking some of the same coursework.  This provides a unique opportunity for engineers and engineering technologists to collaborate and work on projects together, which is how industry operates.


The faculty members roles will include developing and teaching coursework in Aerospace Engineering or Aeronautical Systems Engineering Technology disciplines.  These include such subjects as statics, dynamics, strengths of materials, aerodynamics, fluid mechanics and thermodynamics, stability and control, and design (both tenure-track and non-tenure-track positions). Assist in developing undergraduate and graduate curricula in Aerospace Engineering and Aeronautical Systems Engineering Technology in accordance with abet accreditation criteria (both tenure-track and non-tenure-track positions). Engaging in collaboration for aerospace-related activities across academia, industry, and government (both tenure-track and non-tenure-track positions). Conducting scholarly and sponsored research at both graduate and undergraduate levels.  The selected candidate will be instrumental in developing strategic research competencies for the college (tenure-track positions only).

Minimum Qualifications:


Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or closely-related discipline prior to starting this position.  Applicants without a Ph.D. will not be considered.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
