Basic Function:

Responsible for developing and implementing analytic based strategies that support engagement and fundraising goals within Institutional Advancement. Provide insight through data analysis and analytical scorecards. Develop and monitor key performance and fundraising metrics. Reports to Director, Strategic Analytics.

Additional Basic Function – if applicable:

  This is a term position (June 30, 2022) and will be re-evaluated at the end of the term.

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

Work closely with communications, alumni relations, stewardship and events teams to track and measure the direct and indirect return on investment (ROI) of various initiatives.

Conduct customer segmentation analysis around acquisition channels, conversion, retention, and prospect lifetime commitment.

Define and develop key metrics, reports and dashboards.

Work cross-functionally across the organization to support implementation of key recommendations.

Participate on a cross-functional team to construct, evaluate, and utilize statistically relevant models such as a prospect engagement score.

Perform portfolio analyses to identify patterns and suggest improvements to pool assignments, and prospect lifecycle to enhance fundraising results.

Develop techniques for data collection, data mining, and analytics in collaboration with the business intelligence team.

Use statistical and mathematical concepts to evaluate the viability of new initiatives and performance of existing initiatives.

Maximize the value and impact of analytical reporting throughout the Division.

Develop predictive statistical models to identify high potential prospects.

Utilize SQL queries to extract data from a SQL Server data warehouse.

Develop key performance indicators and goals incorporating benchmarks from peer and aspirational institutions.

May supervise student employees.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Finance, Economics or related field. A minimum of two years statistical analysis or related experience.

License/Certification:

Not applicable.

Knowledge Of:

Higher Education fundraising principles *
Prospect research and management techniques *

Skill In:

Written and interpersonal communications at a high level *
Demonstrated quantitative/technical abilities in SQL*
Experience with reporting tools *
Organizing information and projects *
Creation and distribution of scorecards *
Proficiency in statistical techniques *

Ability To:

Work in a complex organizational environment *
Provide initiative and creativity *
Analyze and develop a variety of problem-solving techniques to assess needs *
Determine alternative viable courses of action *
Translate highly technical information into user-friendly language *
Multi-task while managing multiple projects and assignments*
Set priorities and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines within budget *
Develop and present brief data summaries to support decision-making *

Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:

Experience with SQL Server Power BI toolset or Tableau reporting tools. Experience utilizing statistical tools such as SAS, Python or R.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
